Bagley no more

Well, I just found out (after not really checking up the comic loops for the last... I dunno, year?) and Bagley's qutting USM. Or rather quit. About 6 episodes ago.

For those who think I'm speaking geek (I meant to type that since this is clearly English and not in fact, Greek), USm is Ultimate Spider-Man and Bagley's the penciler for it, since day one. His collaboration with Bendis, the writer of USM, has lasted for 110 issues which Wikipedia assures me outstrips the previous 'long collab' record held by Stan Lee and Kirby on their Fantastic Four run. Y'know, back in the day. (Read: before most of us were born) In other words, Bagley's behind the distinctive look of the artwork of USM as we know it. (Though I do love the way Isanove inks. *squee*)

Anyhow, Bagley's been replaced by this chap called Stuart Immonen (Canadian. Hrm. There is doubtlessly a joke that needs to be said with this but I try to keep my racism non-existent. 'Cept for the Irish jokes. Those write themselves.) Sadly the only example of his work I own (as far as I can find) is thoe cover art for Ultimate X-Men in the Ultimates Annuals. I... can't imagine the entire of USM in that style. My mind just balks. (Though he does have pretty stuff up on his site.)

I'm not going to flip out until I've seen USM issue 111 or onwards and gotten a proper look at Immonen's work but one way or another, I'm really sad Bagley's left. I mean, burn out and all is completely understandable but damn, I liked his art.

Unfortunately I am now stone broke (I mean broke. There's 30 cents in my wallet) and between my 360 fund and the new Halo comic that just came out (Halo: Uprising), there's no telling when I'll next be able to afford a trip down to the comic store.

Some of the guys were wondering yesterday why we never get to see the Master Chief's face. It's deliberate; Bungie wants us to be able to maintian this illusion that we are the MC. Hence, no face. Kinda doesn't work that well though when his voice is deep, gravelly and obviously male and you're an 18 year old girl.

Decompression

Prelims are over so I went out with some class mates for lunch today. Wanted to watch the movie with the french rat (who's name I cannot spell and shall not embaress myself by trying to) with Grace but it doesn't start tomorrow and the sneaks all show at sucky times. Sam is a capsican fiend. Seriosuly, he ate everything I peeled off my hotdog. And while it was good, I prefer the ones from Central Park.

Just bought the rest of the Ultimate Spider-Man Clone Saga and it is THE BOMB. Finally, some closure to all the cryptic little cliffies sprinkled throughout the series. Looks like Doc Ock's really dead too- or as dead as Marvel villians ever get. Which isn't very... Anyhow, I'm glad Gwen's not dead (for good), that the Fantastic Four are on Spidey's side and that Nic Fury admitted Spidey's one helluva good guy. But he's still a tool. Oh yes, and that Kitty finally broke up with Peter. God, she was getting so whinely and insecure. No wonder Bobby dumped her. I mean, I'm a girl and I can't understand a high maintainence girfriend like that. MJ (Mary-Jane) and Gwen are waaaaay cooler.

And I disagree with Aunt May; Spider-Man's costume is not terrible.

Waiting for Spectra jackets and going out with my family for dinner tonight

Exam-time spasticity

While I type this, the rest of my class (excluding Sophia who's my only classmate with my exact same combi) is sitting for their Chem paper three. Which they no doubt all stayed up late for to mug since the &%^*@! math paper ended so late. Am I ever so glad I dropped chem. Though both Red and I agree that math would have been a much better topic to drop. Gotta admit, only one subject scares the bejeezus outta me right now (I'd like to have used the expression 'scares me ballsless' but seeing as I'm not a guy, it makes no sense. I tell ya, gender should not hamper you expletive expulsion experience in any way.) is math. It's really the only subject where I don't seem to be making much headway no matter how much I throw at it and that annoys me. You'd think I'd be used to this by now- what with my learning curve and all- but it still sucks. It almost feels like Chinese did back in sec two and three. Though the difference being that this time I kinda brought it down on myself. Anyhoo, enough of this blathering. As always, I started off this post with some vague purpose in mind and it's loooooooong gone. Myabe I should just end this off and go upstairs to bash it out with my bio or stats. But that would be the responsible thing to do. And boring. Why does being good and responsible always have to be the not-fun option? Played Monopoly last night with my brother and younger cousin and lost- partly due to bad luck and partly thanks to some poor strategies employed near the start of the game. I was looking through our favourite list on ffnet and it's funny but true how much Red's and mine tastes in bad reading shows. Red claims to and clearly does like the long, epic saga while I like the nice, short little quirky quickies. Oh gawd that came out wrong. I meant one-shots! Wait, not coming out any better... I'm talking about fiction dammit, so why does it sound like sex!?!?! I may be incurably perved. Damn. Okay, this is usually a sign I need to sign off so Fenix out! (PS, notice this entire entry boasts a total lack of paragraphs? It's deliberate!)

NDP

I, uh, got dragged to the NDP yesterday by my Dad and younger brother and I gotta admit I had my reservations. I don't do crowded, hype, heartlanders and government-started pretending to be a patriot by going for an over-advertised event. Besides, like most other kids, I've seen a parade before in P5 and come to the conclusion most of the fun's in being a moron with your friends. So yes, I did go for the "first parade on the world's largest floating platform!" for one reason and one reason only: the goodie bag. And family time of course but if you'd let me pick, I'd have gone with watching a DVD of TMNT (which I still have not seen).

We arrived amazingly late- about 18:10 (there was a sign on one of the gates which read (gantry opens at 1445) and got placed in the overspill seating, putting us about five rows from the front and within shouting distance of the VIP box- if anyone could hear you shouting over the clamour that is. Marching bit was fun (because we were so close and my dad brought binoculars) but without a doubt the hight point of the evening for me was the drive-past of all the uberly cool machinery. Yes, we were close enough to get sprayed by the civil defense chaps with the hose. Maybe there's something to that saying "ladies love armour plating". I know I do! (though Steffi would point out my status as female is under debate... T.T)Anyway after that the rest of the parade is kinda a haze of dances and stuff. Bad lip-syncing included. And the lady in the red dress singing opera? Put it this way; it's a good thing my shirt was already red or the blood streaming from my ears might have made a really bad stain.

I liked the 21 gun salute :) And my goodie bag is purple. Love.

FTW

I need to do a fangirl scream.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Nakatsu-kun kawaii des!

He's also a complete moron but I suppose that's a large part of the appeal. Yes, I am hooked on Hana-Kimi (damn- and why the hell am I using so many asides in my posts of late?) but it's not gonna distract me from my studies. Nuh-uh. No siree. Have I mentioned the whole show's hilarious? Damn but I hope Cheng Jie doesn't read this or his "I told you so"s will be absolutely unbearable... Ah well, I am resigned...

Hisn Yinn and Jennifer are bullying meeeeeeeee! *wails* I didn't mean to bust that guy's ankle! He tripped! Honest! Besides, he started it.

Ever since I read that thing, I keep wanting to say "nookie" when I mean "noogie"...

Anyway, Fraiday's Spectra party was fun. :) Alas I could not tie anyone up with the birthday cake ribbon (not for want of trying I assure you) but that's okay coz the cake was fantabulously tasty. Yum. And we finalized the jacket design- yes, Spectra will have its own jacket, soon I hope. FTW's supposed the stand for "for 73H win!" but I gotta 'fess up the first thing that ran through my head was "f*** the wall?" My mind might need minor adjusting... Hmm... being lactose intolerant must suck. And on the off-chance Caleb reads this, drinking three gallons of milk and being sick after that doesn't prove anything about humans being lactose intolerant as a whole in any way. Drinking three gallons of anything would make anyone violently sick, intolerant or not. Though three gallons of something like orange juice would probably make you sick outta both ends... *waves away bad imagery*

Alright, even though I can't vote (and probably never will- which sucks because in a way voting's a rite of passage), I can't help but take an interest in Amreica's presedential elections- much like back in sec two when it was Bush VS Gore (leastways I think it was in sec two... Yet that doesn't sound right... Bush has been in for two terms hasn't he? Aw poop.) One thing that bothers me is how everyone's putting Obama down for his lack of experience compared to his other rivals in the political areana. But the thing is, looking at his replies, I like his answers. They speak of practicality and are devoid of the usual pussy-footing you see in American politics where people are so often obviously more concerned over looking good and winning elections that actually doing their job of steering the country in the direction of everyone's best interests. Unfortunately there's a chance that this lack of experience is going to stop him from being able to do what needs to be done too- or make him foul up somewhere along the line. Better the devil you know... (yeah, this bit wasn't anyway near as coherent as I would ave liked but CNN's reporting on cows now rather than US presedential elections so I'm a bit torn by way of attention. bite me.)

Weird to think of Wall Street Journal changing hands. I think I can understand why people would mind; when you have someone so obviously prolific around, it's hard to believe he'd keep his paws off the processes within any institute he commandeers... Which people within the institue wouldn't appreciate I'm sure.

Gearing up

I have a deep, dark secret now... one I actually can't tell and I may not forget like I do most of the deep, dark secrets I keep. (See, I'm a great person to confide in. Unless you bring it up, I'll quite happily forget you ever told me anything and so never risk blabbing it. Wait, no... that sounds bad, like I don't care! I do! I just have a memory that leaks like a seive! Wait...crap, now I just sound stupid.) But damn, of course I'm not going to say what it is here. This is just to remind myself what the secret is because the blackmail possibilities are too sweet to give up. Keyword: uh...uh... chips! That made no sense. Yanno, *peers around* I think I better just move on to the rest of my post before I dig this damn hole any deeper.

Staying back for Spectra tomorrow (they will have cake!) rather than going for the math lecture- though maybe I should go for the lecture... My Stats suck. Serves me right for sleeping through/ skipping/ playing hang-man/ mugging bio through the better part of the lecture series... Anyway, hopefully I shall have an amusing/ traumatising post to do make over the weekend on just how crazy tomorrow's 'meeting' is. Funny, once our membership went up, Spectra's been having an awful lot of parties... My favourite was still the one where Grace brought her XBox and we played Halo2.

Maybe next year I could go into training and try out for WCG? Hahaha, now that's a crazy-ass idea. I doubt I'm anywhere near good enough. Plus I have no experience whatsoever in playing anything other than slayer; if only my Dad could wrap his head around the other game variants and my brother wasn't so CTF-phobic...

Let's see... what else... I watched episode one of hana-kimi (I'd like to be hooked on the series but prelims beckon, so, no.), Grace is designing the class page, people are dissapearing from class to mug, we had to select class photos- and will pay dearly for them... yeah, I think that's about it. Steffi's been saying... cryptic things to me. Which I shall temporarily ignore. And hope that she doesn't know something I don't. Or maybe that she does. That made no sense whatsoever... Especially give the absolute lack of context.

Well (there's that 'well' again!), I'm starting to reach the level of incoherency that usually indicates I should round off my post or risk letting slip something inappropriate. Like how I never want to sit in a bath tub with pee in it ever again.

Awwwww craaaaaaaaaap.
